There’s this CEO, all excited about the chance to fire his own employees thanks to AI, who goes: “I can’t wait to replace my staff with artificial intelligence.” I agree with Riccardo - this is pure bullshit.

These are the kinds of statements people make when they’re desperate, when they can’t manage to pump up their valuation any other way. Because this is a capital game: startups that, more than actually making something useful, have to inflate their valuation as fast as possible. So they fall back on Berlusconi-style tactics: talk about me all you want, good or bad, as long as you talk about me.

The real bosses own the metal

Go watch the original video, because it makes a fascinating point: if it becomes this easy to lean on agents and AI, then everyone gets there. Everyone gets the chance to have 5, 10, 20 assistants. And at that point, what does the race actually come down to? The ability to coordinate them, to build them, to get some real advantage out of them.

But in the final analysis the race is about infrastructure. The real bosses are the ones who own the data centers, folks. Artificial intelligence is won with metal and energy.
