If you are not paying attention to this stuff, I kind of get it. People talk about it too much, and they talk about it badly. But my advice is to start playing with it. Just play, purely to get a feel for what it can do. That way you are ready for the changes coming to the world of programmers, and to plenty of other work too.
It does not take your job, it changes it
Artificial intelligence has already become a tool you cannot do without. It does not take your job away, it changes it. Instead of doing the things yourself, you guide the work, almost like a manager. You launch the AI to do little tasks in your place, and then you check that it did them well.
It is a middle ground. It is not the way the media tells it. Yes, it is true that it does a lot, but you have to stay on top of it. The advantage, though, is clear. It can even be worth spending 200 or 300 a month on AI, if you know how to use it.
Just start playing
The whole point is to start playing with it. That is all. You get a sense of what these tools do and do not do for your own habits and your own work, and you stay in the loop.
Integrating AI into your workflow is not something you pull off in a week. But once you start playing with it, the ideas start coming to you on their own.
